History of the Shreveport-Bossier Greater Area

(for Mortals/then Vampires)

As Per the average Shreveport Person:

Shreveport, Louisiana, was founded in 1836 by the Shreve Town Company, a corporation established to develop a town at the juncture of the newly navigable Red River and the Texas Trail, an overland route into the newly independent Republic of Texas and, prior to that time, into Mexico.

The Red River had been cleared by Captain Henry Miller Shreve, commanding the US Army Corps of Engineers, of the 180-mile long raft of debris that had clogged its channel since time immemorial. In Shreve's honor the Shreve Town Company and the village of Shreve Town were named. On March 20, 1839 the village of Shreve Town was incorporated as the town of Shreveport. In 1871 Shreveport was incorporated as a city.

Shreveport's original boundaries were contained within a parcel of land sold to the Shreve Town Company by the indigenous Caddo Indians in 1835. In 1838 Caddo Parish (county) was carved out of Natchitoches Parish and Shreve Town became the parish seat; Shreveport remains the parish seat of Caddo Parish, Louisiana today.

The original town site consisted of sixty-four city blocks divided by eight streets running west from the Red River and eight streets running south from Cross Bayou, a tributary of the red River. Today this sixty-four block area is the city's central business district and is a National Register of Historic Places-listed district.

Shreveport, and its smaller sister city, Bossier City (founded in 1884 and incorporated in 1907) together have six historic districts and many landmarks listed on the National Register. In fact, Shreveport is second only to New Orleans among Louisiana cities with multiple historic landmarks. One of these is the McNeill Street Pumping Station, an 1887 waterworks that is still in use and is the unique example of its type in the nation. It is listed on the National Historic Landmarks list, the highest level of national historical designation.

In 1914 the Port of Shreveport was closed and allowed to go to disuse, owing to the rise of the railroad as the preferred means of transporting goods and people, allowed it to begin silting up.

In 1920 with Prohibition came the influx of organized crime in Shreveport, which can still be felt today. Four "Speak-eases" were created and of those, all but one of them lasted until 1929, it is not recorded whom owned it, it is rumored that the Mob had a hand in it, but it is unsure. In 1933 when Prohibition was repealed, the only person ever imprisoned on this charge was released.

In 1929 Delta Opened an Air Field to service flights to and from Dallas. In 1930 there was a strange occurrence, at the Delta Air Field, fire erupted from no where, after two days, it was put out and had burned down half of the woods covering the area. Trees were replanted and the debris cleared, the area was turned into the First Airport in Shreveport, which was in use from 1931 to 1952. It was suggested that strange creatures shot fire at one another. But the Caretaker was taken to the hospital after the incident, and then committed for 3 months. The caretaker wasn't charges with arson, but was released from his job.

In 1941's the House of Alexander is formed and built Close to downtown Shreveport. The former Caretaker of the Delta Air Field is given the place to care for. Mr. James Alexander opens the home up to all who have been hurt by violence in the Shreveport Bossier City area. The house is burnt down with Mr. Alexander in it, but he saved everyone living there.

Following World War II, the demand for expanded airline service at Shreveport increased. In addition, longer runways were required to accommodate the new generation of jet aircraft. Because of land limitations, the closely located Shreveport central business district the decision was made to build an entirely new airport on the western edges of Shreveport. In May 1947, the city committed $2.4 million for its share of a new terminal building for the new airport. In 1948, the city retained an architectural engineering firm to recommend an airport site. In 1949, a general election was held and the current airport site was approved. Initial construction of Greater Shreveport Municipal Airport consisted of a 6,400-foot by 20-foot runway with a full-length parallel taxiway. It opened for Business in 1952.

In 1957 Bird High School is the site of the Black push to vote registration, and Schools are integrated with greater ease than in other parts of the South. Private Schools raise rates, and some parents pull their children out of public schools to send them to Private at the original rates. The Fall semester of 1958, Caddo Parish regulates Private school cost to be equal for all. It remains on the books until 1975.

In 1971, a 160,000-square-foot terminal with two new concourses, administration building and connector bridges with adjacent parking were added. At that time, the name of the airport was changed to Shreveport Regional Airport. Once the new terminal opened, commercial air service moved from the original terminal into the new facility. The original terminal was then converted for use as the airport’s fixed base operator terminal.

Air service grew throughout the 1970s and in the early 1980s. At one time, Shreveport Regional served as a mini-hub for Delta Air Lines. Airline deregulation in 1978 led to the failure of several airlines and the introduction of others. During this time, numerous expansions also occurred, including the addition of air cargo terminals, lengthening of runways and the addition of numerous other cargo ramps, taxiways and hangars at the airport.

In 1982 fifteen men, women and children are found dead in North Shreveport. Vigilante justice killed 3 men and 2 dogs that were thought to be the killers. Vigilantes were never brought to justice and the entire incident disappeared from the news a month later.

1990s was navigation of the river again possible to Shreveport. Today the port of Shreveport-Bossier City is being developed once again as a shipping center.

In 1998 four buildings in Historic Downtown Shreveport are claimed by strange looking fire. After a brief time, the buildings are torn down and are bought by Hollywood Casino. A family of 4 disappears in the Fall of 1998; their bodies were never recovered.

In 2001 the top Penthouse suit of Horseshoe casino is caught on fire, exploded, and otherwise destroyed 4 times, and once in 2002. In 2002 the building is shut down for investigations into the cause of this. After the investigation is completed the staff comment on not wanting to work in the area because of the strange feeling most of them get while working there. The building still carries that feeling today. The investigation committed that nothing was wrong with the building, and blamed arson, no arrest have followed yet, video is sketchy.

In 2002 Best Buy explodes for no reason, arson is expected, but no arrests followed yet. Video does not see anything outside the building, and security says they were knocked unconscious by the blast and can't remember before hand.

In the fall Semester of 2003, Centenary opens the first paranormal class, and requires it under psychology. It is rumored that "spirits" have become a problem in the twin cities.

In June 2004 Soundstage, which was the historic site of the Wolds worth Building, is destroyed by fire. Firefighters work all night to save the buildings surrounding it. The site is still closed off for investigation.  It is scheduled for tear down in August 2004.

As Per the Vampire Point of view:

For a long time Gangrel inhabited the Sportsman's Paradise area of Louisiana. Time eventually grew to where other members of Vampire society came to look at the area. When Ventrue moved into the area to cultivate new business ventures, so came the Camarilla and followed by the Giovanni and Followers of Set.

During probation, the Set's and the Giovanni teamed up to bring alcohol into the city and opened one of the few Speck Easies. After the first and only police raid, the feelings of the two clans were of distain for working together again. The two clans have not worked together in the city since.

The end of the 1930's saw the first Sabbat attack, it was truly devastating. Which brought back Brujah, Gangrel, Venture, Nosferatu and Tremere together unified for the first time in the city. Until this time, Brujah had been mostly Anarch, Gangrel hadn't participated much in court, and the Toreador Prince, Jonus, Had never been in a fight. Jonus died in the fight with the Sabbat, but Named a Brujah, Vance Alexander, as his successor. Anarch Brujah converted the next night.

In the 40's the House of Alexander is formed. The House is a group of Toreador and Brujah who are dedicated to protecting humans and Vampires against the Sabbat. The Venture put the funds up for the shelter to be opened. A Nosferatu Sabbat infiltrator, who had managed to gain the Princes trust and be named Seneschal, killed Vance. This would not be the last time in the 40's a sabbat pack tried this, but it was the first. The city remained in turmoil until 1949 when Giovanni, Gangrel, Tremere and the Brujah Children of Vance took back the city. Venture moved back in, and destroyed the house of Alexander for the few Children of Prince Vance being diablerist. David Kirby of clan Venture became Prince.

Years pasted, Princes changed, and the Camarilla went on. In the late 50's and early 60's the vampire population struggles with having to accept black vampires in their ranks. Which mirrors the human struggle going on in Schools. It is noted that a black Gangrel, and the former Slave owner known as "Beau" had a huge fight outside of Elysium one night. "Beau" was seen leaving the city for his "boys" in Lafayette, he has yet to come back.

In the early seventies a long forgotten Nosferatu comes out of the sewers and Challenges the Toreador Prince for Praxis. He wins, He calls himself Andrew Catonina. He chases the Black Gangrel out of the city and calls a blood hunt on him for tiring to diablerize him. After the Gangrel disappear, all 6 of them, the harpy leads a vote to remove Andrew from office. The Sabbat attacked the next week, and Andrew was thought to kill the prince, but they were not sure since the Sabbat were taking turns changing their appearance to look like Camarilla members during the fight. After the fight Andrew Claims Praxis for himself and removes the council. The Sabbat move into Minden and didn't attack for another 10 years.

In the early 80's Andrew turns over praxis to a Venture and goes to sleep for another 15 years. During that time the Werewolf attack the vampires because the Prince James Daniels, clan Venture, starts a housing development in the center of their land. Prince James is killed in the second battle with the werewolves and a Gangrel by the name of Credence takes praxis and raises an army and trains them to fight werewolf. Credence falls to the beast soon after the werewolves are almost all killed off. He was killed by his childe, Frank Seffner. The Toreador Seneschal Names Frank as his sheriff and assumes Praxis.  Prince Katrina lasts two months before the werewolves ambush her and Frank. They were both killed. The Camarilla fell into ruin until Andrew awoke three years later in 1996.

Andrew reestablished the Camarilla in the city and named Kraven Underwood as Prince, he was a Brujah. It is thought that he and Andrew were in a blood bond; Kraven often would talk to Andrew in private before large decisions like recognizing a Non-Camarilla Clan member into the city. His childe Cris challenged his praxis 6 months later, when it had become obvious of Andrew's hand in his reign. A year later Andrew made up, or found a way to prove Cris had diablerized Kraven. Cris was killed by a Venture, Dominick.

Andrew assumed power in 1998. He rid himself of the council and begins to uncover a cult of bloodthirsty diablerist, made up of Gangrel and Brujah. He began to kill them off. Then the Sabbat attacked again. A Vampire army made up of Ventrue, Toreador, and what was left of the Brujah went to battle against them. Andrew convinced the leader of the fight to spare the members of the city, for himself.  Dominick was the last to see Andrew alive, as he was getting the fallen out of the fight and getting the rest of the cities members out, he saw Andrew consumed in a Ball of green fire. The city's vampires moved to Texas, and joined a city there. However, since then, Andrew has been seen once or twice in various parts of the tri state area.

In 2001 a Ventrue moved back into the city, after rumors of Infernalist died down. He called Camarilla members to him, and stepped up for Praxis, He was soon killed and Praxis fell to Bobby Brujah. The next month another took Praxis and named a Gangrel as his Seneschal. Three months and a few explosions later it was discovered that he was a Sabbat member, he was killed. Argnos took Praxis. Killjoy was allowed to continue living. The Infernalist were killed off, finally and the Ninjas. But werewolves become a part of Elysium life.

Argnos denied the right of the Brujah to have a voice, after the Brujah Primogen was killing off vampires in Elysium with Werewolves, a few months later, Raven and the Brujah, to include Jonathan Edwards fought against Argnos and Steven and some other Gangrel for Praxis. They didn't win, they didn't lose, Argnos and Steven fled, and the Brujah spared the other Gangrel. Argnos has not been back to Shreveport. Killjoy was then killed by the Giovanni.

Bandero took Praxis and names James Mathers as his Seneschal. Bandero later blows up Best Buy in order to kill the BST Werewolves. Jonathan Edwards and others trapped in the "Umbra" regal us with tales of famori and the naked man with white hair. He went on to save his life three times. The Malkavian known as Atticus or "Dunking Donuts of Clan no Nuts" disappears after eating a werewolf in the Umbra.

After Bandero Kills the Werewolves, he gives praxis to James Mathers. Other Karns came to lie in Shreveport. A week later he gave it to Michael D'Angeleo. The Karns question the Giovanni, and D'Angeleo, after most of the Karms were killed off, decides to tax the Giovanni to even go to the Elysium that he and James built. The Primogen Council decides to vote out D'Angeleo and Harpy Jonathan Edwards becomes Prince.

Soon an Anarch Faction moves into the city and takes the city from Prince Edwards. It is found out that they are sabbat, and are tried to be stopped, they kidnap Jonathan Edwards and Mathew Von Bruer.  Mathew comes back to the city looking like the White Salvador Dali version of Jesus, And he brings his brother, Wayne, who looks like the black version of Mathew, back to the city with him. After some dispute with D'Angeleo over Prince, Mathew Claims Praxis and holds it for a few months. D'Angeleo disappears, seemingly off the face of the earth. Wayne Von Bruer takes Praxis.

After his Seneschal seems to betray him, he goes with out one for some time, and then dissolves the Camarilla Primogen Council and the other positions. The Sabbat Attack, and are batten back. Atticus reappears. Everyone is amazed, he himself is unsure how he made it out of the umbra, but he awoke in his basement.

Wayne Von Bruer announced to the City that he is really Jonathan Edwards, and Steven disappears. Ezmarelda Mathers takes over as Leader of the cities Gangrel.

In June of 2004, Jonathan Edwards/Wayne Von Bruer burn down the Sound Stage in order to kill Society of Leopold members. A Malkavian and a Gangrel attack the Prince and Angelique della Passaglia, the Malkavian was killed.
